Style Inspo Suggestions: Coral Makeup & Denim Wardrobe

Let’s say..
you’ve had an obsession with rose-colored makeup and would want to try it out but are not sure what to wear with it. You reach out to me, Mikara Reid, for a fashion consultation and want to get input from a pro makeup artist that can work some magic on your face. I will start by looking at color combinations to match the shades suggested by the makeup artist, Renata Doddy after she identifies your skin tone to know how deep the rose-colored makeup will be. The goal for the overall look is to be youthful yet chic at any age.
Since we are in between the seasons of hot and cool, pairing the rose-colored makeup look with pink and denim will look amazing. This is an effortless denim fashion look and no matter the color shade, you could play around with the two colors and never go wrong as they complement each other perfectly. In the past, I have had clients who wanted to step away from wearing black and white to something that isn’t bold so I introduced them to the blush pink and navy blue combination. It was a success as one woman in particular stuck with this color combination and never went back to black and white.
For this particular look, I’m going to provide two alternatives: one for my fashion girls (the content creator audience) and the second option for my conservative girls who like to dabble in fashion. I would suggest Quani Skirt by Broken-Land with an Amber Top by Broken-Land or keep the Quani jacket since its a skirt set. The alternative option, you could rock the Keke Pleated pants by Broken-Land with a Cotton rib tank by SKIMS in the color Bone and still look chic. When talking about the standout blush look, the blush is the prominent focus on your face. There are two types of blush that you could use; liquid blush and powder blush. Renata Doddy suggested liquid blush for those who are nervous about blush, or a little hesitant about having blush as their focal point. The perfect liquid blush for this look would be NARS Dolce Vita which is a matte dusty rose color, and the perfect powder blush, NARS Basic Instincts Cheek Squad Quad 1. Renata suggests that the Basic Instincts Cheek Squad for your go-to blush palette for this season as it has everything you need for this summer and spring. What makes this the perfect palette are the incredible four colors that include Peachy Pink, Deep Coral, Matte Pink Mauve, and Matte Dusty Rose.
For the stand-out liquid blush application, make dots beginning at the apples of your cheek, back along the cheek line then towards your hairline. Connect the dots by softly massaging the blush into the skin by first using your fingers for more control, then using a blush brush to blend seamlessly to avoid prominent lines. The benefit of liquid blush is that it melts into the skin and is buildable. If you apply a thin layer of color that you aren’t pleased with, you can erase it by simply blotting with a bit of face powder to buff out, then apply another color on top and follow the same procedure.
For the powder blush, start the application on the apples of the cheek, and then proceed to your temples and the hairline using a blush brush. If you feel you have a distinguished forehead, you can use your blush to minimize it. This effect is known as draping. Using the blush brush move the color from the cheeks to the temples and along the upper area of the forehead. This will minimize your forehead making it appear smaller.
For the lips, you may forgo the use of lipstick with the standout blush look. If you’re all about lipstick, the lip color suggested for this look is Chanel Rouge Coco Collection- Adrienne, this is a beige-rose color, which has a beautiful finish. It can be worn without gloss and you’re good to go. However, if you want a glossy look, Renata suggests Fenty Gloss Bomb in the color Glass Slipper. Another gem is the Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil Intense Shine which will moisturize and hydrate your lips.
For the eye color, she suggests the beautiful Chanel Healthy Glow Natural Eyeshadow Palette which complements the standout blush. The palette has 4 shades of brown ranging from light to cocoa colors and also includes a highlighter. For this, apply one color across the eyelid.
Since the cheeks are prominent, she advises a subtle eye to avoid overpowering the blush. For the eyeliner, use the Pat McGrath Perma Gel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Blitz Brown. The color is described as a chocolatey brown with bronze pearl. Apply it across the top lash line from the inside to the outer line and finish the look with the Chanel Le Volume de Chanel mascara in the rich black color Noir.
