Minimal Jewelry: Mikara Reid's Picks from Women Owned Brands

Black owned fashion brands should be celebrated beyond Feb, Black History Month. And with a few requests from our community and Mikara's onlookers, she curated a list of 5 black owned handbag brands that represents many sides of a woman. As a personal fashion stylist, its important for Mikara Reid to be in the know of the different styles and brands for her private clients to get the look. Man oh man, I'll be getting some positive feedback on these lists that I have been curating and since we just had
International Women's Day and I work with a lot of women own business owners
I definitely wanted to continue extending
In honoring and also just celebrating women. I do that multiple different ways
But I wanted to extend that with this type of list by curating a woman's own fashion brain
That focuses on a minimal jury to wear every day. So these are like your classics
As I would like to call them when I'm with my my styling clients the sentimental
Jury but sometimes a lot of people don't have
Sentimental pieces. They just have pieces that they wear every day
That goes very well with both but I'm gonna go get into the definition

Let's get on the same page. I like to get on the same page in not going on assumptions. So every day Jury
Everyday Jury is worn for the purpose of your everyday clothes or uniform

That is honestly why one of the second reasons why I wanted to create two different lists for women's own
Fashion brands because a lot of women like to just wear the dainty
Everyday minimalistic type of accessories and then my second list
You know, that's going to be my little fun list because those are going to be the statement

So let's get into the first one my first brand that is woman-owned
This is something I actually this is actually a brand that I use. I want to say like eight seven eight years ago
It's my name Vita Fadejore
I'm not sure what is going on with her website
She did have a website and then I read that she changed her business model by Zoyne's all right
I was back in 2020
During the pandemic and I'm not really sure where her website is or what's going on with her social media
But I do see other retailers
selling herself
So the name of this bracelet that is fabulous and can be worn every day. It's the crystal mini Titan cuff
bracelets as you can see
This is very sweet. You can wear this for every day. You go where is one you can wear with many
It still gives it that nice
classic type of
Feel so description of this bracelet is 24-carat
pleated and brass is crystal
And the inside circumference is 6.5 inches the maximum inside circumference is 8 inches and the width is
0.25 inches
So I do not I don't think she has a silver one like I said
I'm not sure what happened to her website
but um
The gold if you if you are girly who just loves to wear gold or always wear gold and gold is like the color for you
Then this option may be for you. All right
So let's go on to my next girl
The next girl is the brand name Misha Misha Designs
I've also worked with this brand for a photo shoot. I'm gonna say for like a magazine photo shoots to be
Really specific, but you can just never go wrong with hoops depending on what type of girl you are
You can go for the little tiny hoops. You can go for the really big hoops
um
It just it just doesn't matter. It just all depends on you your preference with type of girl you are but
This one that I'm selecting is the cube hoops, which I think is very compatible for all girls

This is definitely a building block of any wardrobe that relies on classic silhouettes and shapes
I feel like this can be one with any and every type of outfit whether you are stepping in a um
In a meeting or zoom meeting a in-person meeting at date nights a um
If you're good networking it just gives you still that classic type of feel
And so the finishes that she does have if you are into silver she does have silver plated available
But this one that I'm looking at is the 22 karat gold plated. It does not have the size listed but
I want to say it's medium the reason why I want to say medium because small can be very very small
But I think this size that I am inquiring about
Is enough for the girl who likes stuff big
This can be her down date type of thing and then the girl who likes things small
This can be her, you know, I'm feeling good. I'm feeling fabulous
Let me up my jury game a little bit
So it's like right in between if you know what I'm saying with the size and that's why I wanted to include this and the list for
Minimal jury that you can that you can wear um, you know, yeah, I would say it's very easy to just

The most fabulous the most distinctive so that my fat so that my clients can look the parts. These are these are the elements
So the next brand now if the hopes is not your type of thing hopes are not in your jury boxing
You may be a button type of girl
Yes, the button girl the girls who like studs in the ones who switch out the studs and go for buttons
So my next brand that is woman-owned is Lee let new york
This product is called the so button earrings
I haven't used this personally and none of my clients have um
Actually purchased this itself, but I did put this one a
Board for them to kind of select
For final and I want it in as a stylist. We keep a lot of brands
On tech so that we can kind of go back to it because maybe you know down the road
They may want it later down the road for another occasion or maybe another client may want it or maybe I want it
I mean I am a woman
but
I never use this but I really like the shape of this and also
This brand provides regular shape a regular shape type of
um button as well as a petite one
So of course, I'm going to go for the regular size one. I am a woman that is bold
So I kind of like things a little bit more pronounced
um, and you know a nice portion of my clients are pretty much aligned with my aesthetic
I just need to know how far along they are
When it comes to extremes, but for the most part this when I circle this around
They rely oh, this looks good
So this so this so we button earring is definitely a modern state statement earring that just boosts in the regular
elongated shape for a unique a futuristic look that it definitely does
So the measurements of this is the length is two inches and the width of it is one and a half
inches. This is just for the regular size and another thing that I love about this brand
They are made to order so when you do order this you do have to wait at least two to four weeks

This one I want to say this only comes in
Okay, so she does provide two different styles of earring posts
So earring posts are if you are
Interested in sticking it in your ear with like the butterfly or if you are interested in having a
Clip on because there are there are a decent lot of people or women who do not have their ears pierced
So this brands in this earring particular does provide different styles to put your earring one
And that is one of the way that is one of the reasons why I kept this brand on one's egg because I like that option
I did not see so many people providing that option
When it comes to earrings because a lot I know with definitely one photo shoot in my like early days
One of my stylist mentors definitely brought that to my attention
I'm just kind of looking at her crazy like girl. We are in like 20
14, 2015 like what are you talking about? So when I was on my own
There was a model that did not have her ears pierced and I had to
Think fast and pop that post off file it so that can be safe and then go to like michaels and
I'll get like a glue
And the clip on posts and glue that one because she did not have her ears pierced
So it's definitely always great to know these intricate type of things just in case and also some people just don't want to put
They're not someone that wears a lot of costumes a jury and they easily turn
So putting the post definitely preserves your ears. So that's always great to know
so let's move on to
The little petite all right, so the little petite the Zoe petite stud earring is definitely smaller
So the measurements is the length is one inch and the width is 0.75
It is similar shape
To the regular one, but it is a little bit more round because it's definitely more small again
It's it's petite so the girl is who like the studs or the button type of feel
This is definitely a great option for you to go to when it comes to

Now this next brand I was really trying to to be which
Item but I'm like, you know what girl
Everyone doesn't have their ears pierced to the nine so
I'ma just give this habit this tidbit in this extra of I'm gonna name the ring as option
If you are someone who was looking for some cool
earrings
For like your top ear your inside ear like the little trinklets
They definitely do have great little
Little tiny petite earrings for the girls who have extra piercings. I definitely would I'll write you to this brand
So this brand is called Ferris

Am going to go for the rocker band three millimeter ring
Rings are definitely a thing that females wear
And with a lot of us the women just stacking stacking stacking. It's just so much you can do with the rings
I say you know what every girl wears rings
So I was like let me just go with the ring and just throw the extra tap it and if you are a girl who has extra piercings and
want to
You know just kind of just diversify the ring so this rocker band is small and scaled ring in our signal in their signature
Rocker texture. So there is a like a
unique type of groove of you as you can see in the picture. I like it
It adds a different type of texture
So this ring is 14 carry it does come in golds and so sterling silver and the sizes that they have available with size four
Through eight they do a great job breaking down like the ring size
I I have yet to use the spirit either, but this is one of the brands that I've had on my roster
And I'm like let me find out if this is woman woman on and it is so um
I think this I love you know the examples that they use on the website you guys that they're not promoting this either
But going on the website and actually seeing the pictures move and then pairing it with different types of rings
definitely gave me a great
Look as well as
If I were to send this over to a client
They can kind of see what it will look like and kind of get an idea because a lot of people are not
visual with
With items especially when they have a lot of stuff going when in fashion is not their thing
so
I'd definitely I mean check this website out again the if you're looking for petite for earrings for extra piercings
They have amazing, but I just came to the position for myself like girl a lot of people do not have extra piercings

Everyone is not you
But rings I definitely had a hard time deciding which one I said let me go for the more simpler one
Which was this one since we are focusing on you know every day classic type of
earrings this being a you are capable of
dialing it down dialing it up
Whichever way you want to go

chain gold necklace
I wear this necklace almost every day
So I have this personally
In my everyday
Type up in my everyday wardrobe
I I'm gonna insert a video of me you know wearing this necklace. I wear this necklace a lot
So this is like a vintage inspired necklace with a modern classic
Type of feel if it's if it sits flat and it's comfortable and it's also just very light
This is 18 karat gold plated brass is 37 millimeters flat
and flat
And the extension of it is eight centimeters
And one centimeter wide the reason why I wanted to pick this is because I didn't want to go for a typical type of
um
A typical like rope chain or just like the classic flat
I wanted something that just really accentuated my collarbones since my collarbones are pronounced and this really looks
Amazing
On my skin and also
I wear a lot of
gaudy um
Airings airings is my thing. So I wanted something that was different, but yet
Not too much when it comes to me wearing um, you know earrings
Very vintage and unique earrings a lot of the sounds my earrings are gold with pearls or gold or
Just you know, just those
Drifted or vintage type of feel and it needed to look good with that and so since they had this vintage inspired
I decided to purchase it and it looks great with majority of my earrings and like I said
