Black owned fashion brands should be celebrated beyond Feb, Black History Month. And with a few requests from our community and Mikara's onlookers, she curated a list of 5 black owned handbag brands that represents many sides of a woman. As a personal fashion stylist, its important for Mikara Reid to be in the know of the different styles and brands for her private clients to get the look. When it comes to handbags, we as women got to have variety and that all depends on the event

that's happening in the functionality that it serves. So with it being black history mom and me

wanting to put more emphasis on this, do you know any black on handbag brands? Can you name five

at least? As a stylist, I always look for the new, the uniqueness and just an all around good

bags. So in this episode, we're going to get into five black on handbag brands. You should consider

according to the personal stylist, McCarrory, which is me. Let's get right on into it. All right,

us women, we have so many different bags. And some of us really have a lot of bags like we have

a whole section. I definitely wouldn't know since I am a personal stylist that really, you know,

specializes in special, special, special style developments and going in people's closet,

organizing it and making sure that it aligns with their lifestyle and to just elevate.

I'm going to give you guys five different black on brands with various different handbags.

Handbags, as I mentioned, the functionalities can serve differently. So each of these five brands,

I will share a story or just a reason why I picked it in which why it was picked because it does

serve a unique purpose. It's not going to just be your everyday bag. So let's get into the first one.

The first one is Brandon Blackwood. I really enjoyed, I just want to say I really enjoy seeing the

evolution of this fashion brands. He has definitely expanded so much of his brand itself. But since we

were here for black on my handbags, I'm going to get into this bag that is really, I feel like

as a top seller, I'm not sure if it is. I'm not his pockets, but I ordered this bag for a client.

We were going to a formal event, but this chunk bag is emaculant. Let me tell you.

He has definitely released so many different versions of this bag. And I don't know what he's

said, but I know I can recall he has released the tiny version, the tiny, the Kendrick tiny

chunk bag. I'm kind of just bringing it off of my head because I want to just give you guys

this information. But this bag is emaculant. So the bag that my client finalized was the slim

trunk bag in this metallic gold. I want to say this was the limited edition. It was a while

ago since we purchased it. But I mean, we were a bit nervous because when it comes to these little

bags, little bags, you know, she wanted to be able to fit her phone in there. And he did put that

intricate detail in the description of the bag. I really, really love it. And just on the website

right now and the item details, this is a seven inch long by four inch heights by two inch

width. There comes a cross body chain. That's about 55 inches long. And it's a very comforting

bag. I was very excited when I got the piece. And then when we all put it together, it was,

it was just emaculant. It was everything. The long chain that comes with that 55 inch chain,

it is like a chain. It's not like a leather strap, since he has different versions of this trunk

bag. But this metallic one, it comes with a chain. So it went effortlessly with the whole

outfit. We were in love. I definitely would recommend this. I see that he has a mini version of this.

I haven't tried out the mini one, but the regular, you know, slim clutch handbag is it. So if you

are in the market for something that's cute and mute and ready to, you know, be partied with

or go to a nice little formal old dinner, I would definitely suggest you try this out for

consideration as your personal stylist on the internet. All right. So let's go to number two.

The next bag I am going to save you on the market to look for in every day type of bag. Then

girl, we about to get right on into it. Number two selection would be the Hanifa V medium handbag.

I really, well, first and foremost, I love the commercial she had for the handbag. Even though I know

it was for the other bag, but she dropped this one, the second one, and I was, we were, I was just like,

oh, what is this? I had someone in my office and she was just like, what are you in all for?

What's going on? So I turned my computer around and I showed it. She was like, what is that?

Where can I buy this? She really loved the richness of this calf skin leather bag and the chocolate

is like really chocolate. It's very appealing. It was very appealing in the pictures and it's very

appealing in person. So if you really like or want a good everyday bag that fits a nice amount of

things in there, it comes with a little, you know, a little, um, a little wristlet or a little

compartment, a little zipper bag that goes inside. It is definitely doable. Now if your girl

doesn't need something really, really big, I would suggest the other one, but we're not here for that one.

Well, I haven't really experienced that one. I'm going to just going to be very upfront with you.

The V medium, I think, is very, very essential for the girls who like to carry their bags by their

hand. This one does not have like a long strap, but you know what you can put the strap on your

shoulder. But if you like to hand, if you like to hold your bag around your forearm or just hold it

as a bag around your hands, this bag is it. Now this chocolate bag is called espresso.

And like I said, this V medium is just essential for anyone that is seeking for everyday bag.

It is 100% calf leather that's fastened by a magnetic closure and is lined. Now the dimensions of

this bag is 17 inches and height 15 inches in length and six inches in width. I really give this

bag in a plus. If you are a girl who wants another shade, you can definitely go for the red, but like

my client was seeking is she was just an all when I turned a computer around. She definitely really,

liked it in brown and I want to say just from the images off of the email that I got as well as

you know how she was advertising it, the brown is really true. The image is very true to what

you see in person in real life. It's I want to say it's definitely described for what it is. It is

definitely the everyday bag that every woman would need and it's it's perfection. So let's go

on to the next brand. Now that we got now that we got you know the everyday bag, the formal bag out

the way. Let's go for what I want to say the formal wear for more of the conservative type of girl

who wants to wear more than once. Let's just say that. So now I want to move to a brand into a bag

that's definitely has a little bit of umph to it. When I say umph as a personal stylist,

this is for my fashion girlies who like to show up a show out and let they fashion do what they do.

So for my next brand, we're going to go for this brand called Africa card or Africa KOD Sorry

not sure which way it goes, but this wild berry bag in yellow. It looks like it's like a lemon

lime type of color. I love this oval shaped type of bag. This beating type of bag. This beating type

of bag was definitely very trendy for I want to say a nice length of time, but it still it still has

its ebbs and foos. But this bag, how it's designed is beautiful. I really love like the the leaf

and diamond shaped type of crystal beads. I just I just love it. The top handle, I mean every girl

love won't mostly every girl loves to a good top handle, especially if it's like a girl's not out

the day night out. This bag was definitely purchased by me for my client. She was going on a nice

little date weekend with her fiancee and she wanted to kind of just spice stuff up. She was

experimenting with some outfits and allowed me to kind of take, I want to say 75% control of

desirection with some intricate details that she shared with me. You know, the new era that she was

going through as a woman and you know, transition to a wife, her wife ever. So I want to suggest

incorporate something a little bit, a little wild factor about her. She definitely has a beautiful

personality and she loved handbags. So I definitely wanted to get this. I ran this by her and she

was definitely approached. She was going towards the blue one because there is a couple of other

colors. She definitely didn't want to do red because she's more of a cool type of girl but she

wanted to try the green because green is something that she does not have in her closet. It was

open and willing to try it out. So she wore this for a weekend with her boyfriend. I mean, I'm sorry

about her fiancee and he actually liked the touch. She got a lot, a lot of compliments. She also

wore the bag again to some, I want to say like a company party or something. Something that was

related to business but she always gets a lot of compliments. And then you know what, another fun

thing that we did to kind of spice up the look because you know, this bag is so distinctive, unique

and as I mentioned earlier before I introduced this bag, it's definitely for the girlies that

want something, you know, just different. We added a nice, we added some embellishments to it.

We added, well not some embellishments but we, she wanted to try like a bow. So we got some

set in and we made some cute little bows to kind of just add a nice little touch. Since she wore

this bag is so unique, distinctive. And she said she wanted to kind of just add like a nice simple

touch to it, a flirty little touch. So that is what I did to, you know, just add some more character

and just bring a difference. So I'm dynamic to it since she wore it again. But I really, really

love this bag. I did not measure this bag and it also does not have it when the website, but I feel

like this is definitely a fun bag. I'm lying. It does have it. It's on, it's at the bottom. So

the dimensions of this bag, this is going by centimeters. It is three by 26 by 10 centimeters.

So you can fit your bag in here, a cute little card holder, you in lipstick. Keep it very, very light.

The green is, I really love this green. It's definitely like a lemon lime type of color.

She wore an all black type of dress. And it just really popped for her. It really, really looks good.

So we're going to go on to the next one for the girlies who is moving and grooving and need a

backpack. I told you guys, I'm going to give you guys a different variation, functionality and

serving. So we're going to go to Lynne's Kaliye. Hey girl, she is based in Brooklyn. But I

personally bought this bag myself. Her brand for her clothing in accessories is Kaliye Vettin.

And the bag that I think you guys should definitely consider is this Jessie backpack. This is a part

of her travel, her CV travel collection. And cognac is what I have. I know I bought this when I

was returning a couple of her products for fashion shoots. And I saw the bag. I think one of her

project managers had it and I was like, Oh, what is this? It was just a nice size. I loved it. It

wasn't so big on my bag. It was just very comforting for a female. And the color was just very,

very rich. I really liked it. And it wasn't too heavy. It was, and it was smooth. So I bought it

right then in there. It was, I bought it right then in there. And I've still had it. I want to say

it's been like three to four years since I purchased the bag. But this Jessie bag is where it's

that. If you are a girl that's in the metropolitan area or the city like type of area,

and you wear backpacks because you probably have reports, you have documents, you have your computer

in here, whatever the case may be. Like I said, the girl who is moving and grooving in need to have

a backpack that stylist you're traveling or maybe your airports up early and you just don't want

to carry stuff in your hands. You want your hands to be free because maybe you're recording,

you have your rollie suitcase and you have your bag. This bag is definitely uniquely shaped,

smooth. It's just very sleek. You can go for it. It has two other colors. Like I said, I have the

cognac type of color. There is this royal blue. And also there is a stone white. I know a lot of

people are a little bit clumsy, but I mean, it all depends on you on which ones you like. Again,

on a vacation, this bag might be for you. It's definitely giving me Hawaii vibes, tropical vibes,

just something warm. We've have gone through so many different variations of functionality.

I would day bag, your party bag, your conservative formal wear, your moving and grooving type of bag,

and now let's get into the vacation bag. And this black owned handbag brands is Andrea Yama.

I want to say I'm pronounced her last name correctly, but this brand, again, I love the evolution

of this brand. I remember just seeing the swimwear and it just has expanded to so many beautiful

things. But topic at hand, the handbag, this beautiful Aji escape mini tote bag. Man. So you

got to see this beauty? Vacation vibes. This bag was bought for my clients. She does a vacation,

two week vacation for herself every year because she really gets busy. All throughout the year and

she really takes a two week vacation to kind of just decompress, be herself, be a woman,

and kind of just boil herself. So as I was preparing for that, I wanted to do something different

with the bag. She doesn't really dabble in bags, but I was like this right here is where she was

going, the resort she was staying at, the village she was staying at. I was just like, yeah,

this is giving a lot. So let's really do it for this vacation. So this bag,

when we got it, I just didn't know what else to say. I just love everything about it. The size

number one, the feel of it. I know it looks kind of sometimes, you know, how do you know how you buy

some straw bags or some wooden handle bags? It's not very comfortable. It's not very comfortable.

It's very, you can wear it for a few and then you're like, all right, it's time to kind of just

keep it cute and mute. But this one, this bag is very sleek. It's very sleek. I don't know what type

of straw she's using, but it is seamless. It's silky. It does not irritate at all. The lining

is amazing. There's also a small inner pocket inside as well. And the size, the dimensions of

the bag is seven inches by 10 inches by three and a half. So you can fit something not too heavy,

but you can, I want to say like your cover, your cover up in here, your wallet, sunglasses,

it's, it's a cute little thing. You can't throw a whole bunch in there because it's a mini beach bag,

but you can put enough. Like I said, don't make sure your cover up is not thick. If it is, it will

take up a nice portion. But this little thing is not, it's just super cute. And again,

the straws are very comforting on this game. So if you guys found this list very

intriguing or interesting or bought some new eyes to, you know, some of these essentials,

I really loved. So on this, you know, I used to do accessories at the Real McCarberie when I was

first getting into, you know, my styling career over a decade ago. And also when Instagram first

started, I really, really enjoy independent brands and just honing in on something different,

something more specialized is definitely what I do. I mean, that's what I do for my personal styling.

And I don't see so many people, you know, diving into black on handbags. It's just more so black

on brands. You should know about or it's just very broad. And I don't see anyone talking about

handbags. And also, you don't see too many black on brands diving into the small leather good

sector. It's very, very small. So if I can get the chance to share light so that you guys can

know, definitely, definitely, definitely. I might do some more. I want to do some more niche

things since it is black history month. And I got, you know, I got a couple of enquiries. So

I'm definitely inspired by doing more of these as I mentioned before. I used to do a lot of

these accessories that throw Macara when I was first starting my style of career. And this

is kind of just making me feel like this is this is it again. I mean, this is what I do. I'm a

stylist. I'm always looking for new brands, the new trends. Well, not the new trends because I'm not

trends, I'm not trends focused. But the newest, you know, independent brand. I love it. I made

time into accessories or, you know, just sentimental jewelry or everyday jewelry. And also my

time into dresses. I think dresses, either dresses or suits. I'm not sure. Y'all, let me know
