Picture this, you've been into a guy…

for a while and you both confirm being exclusive. You’re planning to go out on a date and you want to show off while being subtle. Seeing that you’re thrilled about the relationship just like every other area of your life, you call and hire me (Mikara Reid) as your image consultant to put a full look together for this date. I have an established fashion profile with you so I already know your figure, workweek, and even discomforts. Below is what my makeup artist in-crime, Renata Doddy of The Artist Revealed, and I suggest for a look to rock on this occasion. Renata is very conversant with make-up and does makeup for celebrities, tv, editorial and brands.

First of all, we came up with the outfit. To start, I recommend the Raven Maxi dress by HANIFA paired with the Laminated Nappa Padlock Pointy Naked sandal in gold by Tom Ford. Since this dress has little drama and is elegant with an ultra-sultry touch to it, I coupled it with subtle accessories like Solanales Crystal Lake Petal Post Earrings by Alexis Bittar and a vintage sequin handbag from Mikara’s Modish. This is mostly great if the client is conservative and occasionally adds fashion-forward elements to her wardrobe and wears it with confidence. Another element to add, although unseen, will be Libre Yves Saint Laurent Eau's perfume which will heighten your appearance. If you enjoy bold but feminine perfumes, this would be perfect for you as it has Moroccan orange blossom, vanilla extract, lavender, and warm floral notes.

Now that you know the outfit to rock, we proceed to enhance your beauty with make-up artist Renata. What better way to start than from the current red lipstick trend this season? Don't be afraid of red, as there is a suitable color for everyone. The key is to find your right undertone. You could have a warm, cool, or neutral undertone. Warm undertones range from yellow to gold tones whereas the cool type consists of blue, pink, and red tones. The neutral type, as the name suggests, is a combination of both warm and cool undertones. If you have a cool undertone, Renata suggests two colors: NARS inappropriate red and Tom Ford's cherry lush lipstick. As for the warm undertone, you could use Rouge Dior in the color 999 which is a strong red - which is a matte finish. All three colors are lovely, but Renata suggests the color 999 which will pair very well with the wardrobe recommendation.

While applying the red lipstick, use a liner since red can be very unforgiving. If it smears or goes outside the lip line, use a little foundation or makeup remover to get it off. Also, if you feel as if your lips are petite and you feel that red lipstick doesn’t suit you, try a lip pencil preferably the Dior Contour Lip Liner - Red Smile (080), for definition. Start by lining your lips at the lip line, and fill the red lipstick in by applying directly from the tube or by using a lip brush. To finish the look, use the Fenty Gloss Bomb’s Glass Slipper which is the perfect go-to gloss to finish up any lip application.

With the emphasis being on red for the lips, the cheeks should be subtle and fade in the back. For this, you can use Nars’ Tempted in mid-tone beige. Begin at the center along the cheek line, softly brushing the color from forward to back with your blush brush, and then down to the indent of the cheek. If you want a draping effect, you can proceed with color using the same soft stroke technique to your temples and the forehead area.

For the eyes, go for Tom Ford’s Eye Color Quad palette. This palette consists of four earthly colors ranging from light to deep brown, which pairs well with brown, blue, and green eye colors. Smokey quartz would be the best color for this look.

With red lipstick, both minimal and dramatic eyes will do. If you're going for the minimal eye look, just apply one color from the palette across the eyelid. If you're more interested in achieving a dramatic eye, there's a deep cocoa color in the palette perfect for this. You can apply a lighter color on your eyelid and do a crease cut with the deep cocoa onto the outer edges. If you want, you can swoop upward for a wing effect or smudge a bit of color underneath your eye. Make sure to blend seamlessly.

Finish with Tom Ford’s EMOTIONPROOF Liner 01 Dominatuer, by creating a line on the top lash line. This is particularly good for this season as it is a 24hr wear and waterproof eyeliner. For the last step, Renata highly recommends one of her favorites, Chanel Le Volume de Chanel mascara in the color 10- Noir.
